”It’s in the fridge if I want it.” It was. She was much happier making him happy. ”Ribs it is.” She smiled at him and opened the freezer taking a moment to mutter a spelt hat defrosted the meat and pulled out some of the barbeque sauce she had gotten when she had spent some time in the American South, the food was so different and rather very good, she would have to take Neville next time, he would love it. Well the food anyway. She put the food in the oven and smiled. ”What have you been up to all week? It’s probably more fun than sleeping in the dirt with James snoring a few feet away.” she thought he had a serious problem and suggested he get it fixed.

"Not a lot," Neville admitted, pulling her to him again for the comfort that the awkward conversation was lacking. "A few raids, a lot of paperwork." He shrugged, "The flat's really empty without you. I thought about getting a pet, but I figured it wouldn't survive long with whatever you ended up bringing home," He teased. Really he didn't get a pet because... well, Trevor... and in any case, he had his plants. They comforted him in a different way - so it was fine. Even though he would have liked a cat, or something. A fish, maybe.

”You should get a pet.” he should she shouldn’t keep him from that. She felt like she kept him from a lot of things, like meat, and dinner with friends. Luna shrugged it off and sighed. This was hardest than it should be, she should stop leaving for so long. ”I’m putting the next trip on hold for a while.” She had just decided. ”That way the flat wont be so empty and we can come up with other ways to deal with critters.” She would stop bringing them home, that was never really fair of her. She pulled the ribs out and set them on the counter, the meat sizzled and popped. ”Plates?”

Neville anticipated her desire for plates, handing her two as she asked him to. "I can't take care of a pet all on my own. Besides, I've got the plants, they're enough." They would have to be. Plus, he could just hang around with Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny more, if all else failed. "You can't put your life on hold for me, Luna, I won't let you." He reminded her. As much as he would love to have her around all the time, he wasn't sure how they would function from being around each other more. In fact, he figured it would lead them to fight constantly.

”It’s not just for you.” She assured taking the plates. ”Rolf Scamander is supposed to be joining us, but he is stuck elsewhere at the moment. So I am waiting for him to get back before going.” She nodded, that was partially the truth, she could just have the Scamander boy meet her when he was done, but there was something nice about going together. Besides she wanted as much time with him as possible his grandfather had written her favorite book. She only hoped he was as amazing as his grandfather. She made them both a plate and sat down at the table.

"Scamander sounds familiar" Neville said slowly, eyes narrowing in thought. "Do I know him?" He followed her to the table, grabbing cutlery and glasses on the way before setting back to the kitchen to grab a bottle of wine. Wine was appropriate in this situation, right? To welcome her home? Neville never was quite sure about social graces. His gran tried to teach him but usually he would get distracted or break something or otherwise annoy her, which generally meant that the lessons wouldn't last very long. He poured them each a glass before sitting down, anyway.

”He went to Hogwarts.” She nodded and took the glass of wine. ”And Newton Scamander is his grandfather.” One of her idols. ”He was quiet, or rather he didn’t get into adventure like you.” She smiled and looked at him. She was fond of his adventurous spirit. Taking a sip of wine she set the glass down and pulled at the meat on the bones. Giving him a shrug she continued to eat small bites. She ate little while traveling and didn’t like to stuff herself after coming home. ”It’ll be nice to have someone other than James to travel with.”

I guess I have something to be worried about, then. Isn't his grandad your idol?" Neville asked teasingly, picking at the potatoes rather than the meat, to start off. Unlike Luna, he ate a lot all the time. But he tried to go slow when eating with her, since she was more... sensible with her eating habits than he was. And though he knew better than to be worried about Luna's faithfulness - she was very forthright, always had been - the joke, he hoped, would lighten things slightly. He had to wonder though, what the Scamander family dinners were like, and if they were anything like that of the Lovegoods'. He always felt terribly out of place.

”Not so much, he is not his grandfather.” She smiled though, still, it was kind of cool to meet the grandson of her idol, that and Neville remembered her idol. That had to count for something. ”I don’t know maybe you will have to worry-“ She took a bite of food and sighed happily as she sank into the chair. Staring at the various items in the kitchen she finally settled back on Neville. ”He could be charming for a corpse.” A wry smile spread across her face as she made a joke albeit a morbid one. however she had thought it to be rather funny and she continued to laugh.

Five years ago, Neville might have laughed at that joke. Now, though, the word 'corpse' reminded him of moving the bodies of fellow students, his friends' family members, and vile death eaters. He offered her a smile anyway, because he could appreciate her attempt at humour, but he was still more sensitive than he let on about the idea of death. Brave as he might have been, death terrified him. Not his own, but those around him. Instead of replying, he picked up a rib, eating it right off the bone like some sort of savage, hoping to distract from his extreme discomfort.

Luna sighed and stood up. ”I think I am going to bed.” She announced. Though used to awkward and being considered weird instead of funny, it was a little different when it came from your boyfriend. Luna may not have been the most socially aware person in the world but she could tell this was a lost cause this evening. She would feel better in the morning anf maybe they would be able to have breakfast without the awkward elephant that had managed to take up residence in the flat she since she had been gone. She dumped her plate in the sink after trashing the bones and headed to the bedroom.
